German biochemist and human physiologist
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Peter C. Dartsch is a German biochemist and human physiologist specializing in cell biology and toxicology. He studied chemical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt and then biochemical engineering at the University of Tübingen. His diploma thesis (1985), doctorate (1989), and habilitation in human physiology (1991) focused on cultivating organ-specific primary cells and developing in vivo-like cell culture models. In 1997, he was appointed as an associate professor. In 2002, he left his position as deputy director of the Institute for Occupational and Social Medicine and founded the private research institute Dartsch Scientific GmbH, which focuses on animal-free cell testing systems in preclinical research and development. Prof. Dartsch has published approximately 150 scientific articles and contributed to 30 book chapters. He has delivered around 180 lectures and poster presentations and supervised more than 30 medical and scientific dissertations.
